    Question Help me to choose...

    Hello there !

I "need" to upgrade my TV (Toshiba 42XV540U), a good one, but old.....

So i want a 3D TV, and i'm very interested in the Samsung UN60ES7500, and i have a good deal in a shop close to me : 2139.50 $Can with 4 glasses.

BUT it needs some glasses for 3D !!! I wonder, and it's where you can help me, if the 3D TVs WITHOUT glasses will soon be released and how much will it cost ? Do i have to wait a little more, or may i go with the Samsung ?

    What do you think ?

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Olivier

Right now, no one can give you a timetable as to when glassless 3D will hit the market and the pricing. Of course, they will be expen$ive when it's released. Should youy buy the SamSung now or wait? IMHO, I would wait. I am not a fan of 3D in it's current form. When the glassless 3D arrives, the current version will move to flea markets. (rightfully so). 3D has not done well, and that's according to the Manufacturer's such as Sony.
I believe that when 4K shows up in mass quantities, we will have glassless 3D. That will not come cheaply for quite a while.

I think that that anyone that understands what is involved with 3D will appreciate that the effect is far more difficult achieve without actively synced glasses.

The polarization that is done in commercial theaters relies on non-active glasses mostly for cost and it mostly works BUT the theater has to have almost no extra light -- don't see anyway that works for home with single screen...

The 'glasses less' or auto-stereoscopic 3D demos I have seen are pretty weak, you have to hold your head in a fixed place or see horrible banding across the screen.

Go to your local Best Buy and look at the screen on the little 3D gaming system, (I think it's a Nintendo) if they still make it and you'll see what I mean.....

If you like the Samsung and have a good deal on it, buy it. If you wait you simply deny yourself the pleasure the new TV will bring you.....

Now, having owned 3D sets, I personally wouldn't use 3D but that is my own personal bias.....

Nintendo 3Ds uses that technology. Can't say that I am overly impressed with 3D and any form.

Most here are not fan of 3D (me included) though it's a common feature in high end TVs these days.
Have you checked out the Panasonic VT50? I'm actually looking around for one after hearing all the rave reviews on it including from editors here in HTR.

I'm not a fan of 3D either but the 3D TVs are generally the better TVs for 2D.

Which is the only reason to get a 3D capable display, at least for me.
