To Quattron, or not to Quattron. That is the question.
As recently posted here, Sharp models are dropping in price.
Is the Quattron technology worth the extra $$$?

I never understood the point of the technology. Given that I believe all source material is done with red/green/blue, how does the added "yellow" do anything but make the Sharp's incapable of achieving reference colour?
Kind of sounds like Marketing fluff to me.

Yup. This is from the July 2010 issue of Maximum PC (click the linky if the image isn't readable):

I've only reviewed one Sharp Quattron model back in early 2011, and the technology in and of itself wasn't worth paying extra for. It has the potential to do more harm than good, actually. But if everything else about the TV is good in the performance realm, then I wouldn't avoid the TV just because of Quattron.

I generally read Maximum PC cover to cover for computer information. The only magazine I find more useful is CPU. I found the article wierd and promptly forgot about it. This is the first time I remember reading about it until today.

I am pretty sure my 70 inch sharp doesn't have Quattron.
It seems like a neat idea but I am not sure if its needed to meet the THX standard. As Adrienne says - it could potentially do more harm than good.
Ray Jr - where do you stand on adding in yellow from a THX perspective?---
