    I'm with you on the "this is how poor people do it" angle. For my first setup many moons ago, I just made a shelf with plywood, attached it to the back wall and set the projector on it. Didn't look great, but when me and friends were watching movies, no one was looking at the projector. All that matters (to me) is how my setup looks with the lights OFF and the projector ON.

    That said I would say painting the mounting arm white to match the projector, and painting the wood brace on the wall the same colour as the wall around it will help make it look nicer, and only cost a few bucks.

    Actually - would cost nothing LOL!!!! I have actually found the paint that we did the walls in out in our shed (still good) and we have white paint in abundance. I doubt if I paint the mount - but I will paint the piece of poplar wood that it's mounted to.
