Solo Cups Measure Your Adult Beverages

The red Solo Cup has been a staple and the preferred "glassware" of backyard BBQs and tailgate parties since their introduction. Did you ever wonder why they have all those groves or rings on the side? Is it just about design and ease of holding the cup?

It turns out that some of those rings on the side correspond to the regular serving size of the three most popular types of adult beverages. Take a look.

As you can see, the lower ring measures 1 ounce which is the amount if liquor that is in most cocktails at a bar. Wine, both red and white, are normally served 5 ounces at a time. Most beers come in 12 ounce cans and bottles but some packaged in 16 ounce bottles. 16 ounces is also how most draft beers are served.

So next time you hold that red Solo Cup in your hands, know that you are holding not only a cup, but also an amazingly simple yet useful measuring device.

Here's to you Solo Cup !!!

You got that right, unimportant things just get stuck while important items just past through.
