Where to place speakers for computer system?

I'm trying to add new speakers to my computer system:
    .
Computer running Media Center 19 with only the DAC making changes to the music
    Emotiva XDA-2 Pre-amp/DAC
    Emotiva XPA-200 2 X 150W amp
Any comments on placement and speakers?

    1. Use small bookcase type speakers close to the computer monitors
    2. Move the computer off the table to under the table and use larger speakers
    3. Use speaker stands behind desk, tweeter height should be at 48”
    4. Another approach

I tried to give some perspective of the room:

I vote for wall mounting. I'm big on good imaging - and if I was at your console - I'd just as soon have them up above me - and probably only 5 feet apart.... if you're geeky enough to use two monitors - your first attention isn't to "sound" anyway.......

    Hi Richard,

    Thanks for your response.

I just this morning ordered Sanus 36” stands after not getting any feedback. The monitors take up 48” even when angled. I’ll try the stands, if they don’t work out I’ll move then back to the wall. The shelf behind the desk is 54” which is 4” above the monitors.

If I had the room I would have three monitors.
