BED: I actually have mixed emotions about this current line of JUVC DILA 4K Projectors. Don't get me wrong; I embrace 4K, although I wish they could get past the larval stage and bring it to fruition. The JVC DLA- X900R is a fine projector, and it it theeir top of the Line projector. The MSRP on thyis one is $12995.00.
Unfortunately, it has 4K, but tyhe Resolution is 3840 X 2160. That would not be what I would want (especially because of the price). I would expect it's Resolution to be 4096 X 2160. I also don't give a rat's ass about it having 3D(umb) included. I'm going to wait until the battle between 4K UHD vs. OLED is over & done with. I expect that sooner or later, we will have glassless 3D or 4D. That does not have anything to do with the little PlayStation type screens, etc with glassless 3D. My son believes that if they can make a little 5" screen glassless, they should be able to make it on a mega large screen as well. You explain it to him; he doesn't accept my answer. (apparently, the ol' man doesn't know what he is talking about). He tries to beat me up over stuff like this.

4096 X 2160 vs 3840 X 2160, I'm wondering how much difference we can actually see between the two. I've seen one of the early JVC "4K" projectors in action on a huge screen and it was pretty impressive. I have also seen the Sony 4K LED at Best Buy running the Sony 4K demo. It too was impressive.
I have yet to see a live A/B comparison between 4096 X 2160 and 3840 X 2160, using the same source material. The difference is much less that the difference between 1080p and 720p.
As to why JVC chose 3840 X 2160 over 4096 X 2160; I'm sure it comes down to money. That $13K X900R might easily be double that if it were full blown 4K resolution, back when it went into production.

With the new Oppo 4K line coming out soon, you may be able to pick up a used BDP-103, or better yet a BDP-105, at a good price.
It won't be $100 though.

Audiogon.com is a good place to look for used equipment.
Also isn't there still a used equipment forum in Canada? I know there used to be but I forget the name.
