Sprint to Test 4K Over 5G Network
I don't usually post much about cellular companies, but I thought this was interesting.
Sprint has announced they will run a 4K trial via their new 5G network. This summer the provider will stream the 2016 Copa America Football (Soccer) Tournament in 4K. CEO Marcelo Claure said as part of the network's "optimization plan" for the network, they would provide coverage at two different stadiums this June.
“We are participating in the development of the global 5G standard, and we’re collaborating with our partners and other companies on the 5G opportunity,” said Claure.
Other cities include Chicago, Foxborough, Glendale, Houston, Orlando, Pasadena, Philadelphia, and Seattle.
I wonder if this trial will count against your data plan?
