    Hulu is Dropping Free Programming

If you are a true cord cutter, I'm sure you know about and use Hulu. Since 2007 they have traditionally had a fairly good selection of free programming of popular TV shows, you just had to watch an advertisement or two during the show. You can subscribe to get access to even more of your favorite shows, but there really is a good bit to see on the free side.

According to a story that I just read, the free part is over. Hulu is now jointly owned by Walt Disney, 21st Century Fox, NBCUniversal, and Time Warner and as you can imagine those folks want the "free ride" to end.

"For the past couple years, we've been focused on building a subscription service that provides the deepest, most personalized content experience possible to our viewers," says Ben Smith, Hulu senior vp and head of experience. "As we have continued to enhance that offering with new originals, exclusive acquisitions and movies, the free service became very limited and no longer aligned with the Hulu experience or content strategy."
Hulu currently has about 12 million subscribers. They will be notified of the change over the next few days and offered a free trial of the new paid subscription plan. If you go to the site now, you are greeted by the banner at the top of this story.

Anyone here a big Hulu user? I know it was nice to be able to catch a recent show that we missed.

Every "free" service will eventually go to a pay per use fee.

Like Netflix, Hulu has to compete to make $$$.
