    A new Universal Remote Control

I currently have a Universal Remote, (Universal remote 850) that I would like to replace because it cannot control everything on my fairly new LG 55EC930 TV. It handles the usual controls for the Marantz and Cable box, but I must use the LG remote for several functions. Here, it becomes a pointer and points to a list of items on the TV (almost like a mouse). I think that is RF? I don't know. Does a Logitech Harmony have that additional control? Does anything?

Some of those fancy pointer remotes use Bluetooth. If this is the case with yours, I don't know of a universal remote that will be able to do the job of that remote.

Have you tried to copy the LG controls you need to the MX850? I can't remember if you can single out commands in a list and then copy its function to another remote. It has been a long time since I programmed an MX850. Receivers generally provide this type of copying.
    Just a thought.

The 850 will do RF commands, but I'm almost certain that the LG uses Bluetooth for the "pointing" actions. I think it works the same as the Wiimote for a Nintendo Wii.

If you are looking for only the basics, I'm sure the 850 can be programmed for those.
