    Marantz 7009 or 7010

My brother is looking to replace an older Marentz. He has a five channel system with no 4k Tv.

he may get last years Marentz to save money or settle with the new 7010. Does anyone have an opinion about any other receiver in that price range. That's about $1000.

I don't think the SR7009 has DTS:X. Other than that, I can't tell much difference between the two.

I would have to do some serious side-by-side studying of the specs.

Agree with Tracy...the newer one will have the latest and greatest tech, but if he isn't going to use it then he shouldn't spend the extra cash.

    And I agree with David.

If the 7009 is less I would grab it. I don't see any feature in the 7010 to make it worth more money, other than it's +1 better.

The only two Marantz products currently are the NR 1606, which is one of their slim-line AVRs, and the AV7702 MKII preamp.
