Before I file it away......... I've got to play Wilson's 2013 96/24 2nd mix of King Crimson - "Red" from Road to Red one more time. It amazed me a couple weeks ago how much better this sounds then Wilson's 2009 version; & Red is one of my fav prog albums.

It isn't that the 2013 mix is all that different from the 2009 mix; it's either the eq or the mastering. The 2013 sounds much more analogue like (ease of listening); by comparison the 2009 dvd is a bit harsh & brittle sounding, though much better than any cd version out there. Unfortunately afaik the 2013 mix is only available on the mega box.

Playing the Jethro Tull 96/24 Heavy Horses dvd's. Both are nice; Musically I'm much more into Berne (the concert on disc 2).

I suspect the reason Horses sounds better is because while Jakko's a fine guitarist, when it comes to mixing & eq he ain't no Steven Wilson. Berne is a 24 track recording, & if Wilson had mixed & eq'd would probably also sound stunning. All & all a very worthwhile release imo.
