For those of us who had Cassette Decks as part of their system
Did you own and use a head demagnetizer? Have you noticed a difference with high frequency reproduction before and after use or is this one of those mythical audiophool ideas?

We had one and I used it because we had one. That's about all I can say. I can't remember having a problem before or if it made any difference after using it.
I can see where a tape head might become magnetized especially if you play a lot of tapes and/or keep a cassette in the player at all times.

I used one on my open reel decks with their larger heads and steel guide posts and arms, but don't remember ever using one on my cassette decks. If memory serves, the high end decks had built in demagnetizers. I believe my pair of Aiwas had it.
