Sharp sues Hisense over 'shoddily' made TV sets

    from bbc,

"Sharp is suing business partner Hisense, claiming the company is putting its name on low quality TVs.Hisense can make TV sets using the Sharp name thanks to a deal it signed with the company in 2015.

Sharp said the TVs bearing its name broke US rules on electromagnetic emissions and that Hisense had made false claims about picture quality.

Hisense said it "categorically" denied the claims made in Sharp's court papers and it would defend itself."

yeah, I don't think Hisense will want to go to court. Imagine the bad PR if the "allegations" are true!

Maybe the contract didn't specifically stipulate that Hisense should make non-shoddily-made displays and then slap the Sharp name on them.

Whoever the attorney was for Hisense must have been a graduate of the Captain Hector Barbosa (from Pirates of the Carribean) School of Negotiation.

In reality, Hisense does have the reputation of making lower-priced displays that aren't exactly the higher-performing ones.
