U.S. News: Should you prepay your 2018 property taxes?

There is a lot of buzz in the states in regards to prepaying your 2018 property taxes.. Should you do this?

Sweeping tax changes will take effect on January 1, impacting state and local taxes, as well as the property tax. That has many Americans in high tax states eager to prepay their property taxes in hopes they can lock in 2017's deductions before they're capped in 2018. PagnatoKarp senior tax manager Johanna Seenath discusses who can and should prepay their property taxes.

I prepaid my mortgage for January since I'll hit the cap next year. In my early estimates, I think I'll be filing with the standard deduction. I will save about $2000 in taxes though overall, so it's a win for me

I would prepay my property taxes if I could, but I use an impound account and Wells Fargo won't let me.

I have a homestead exemption and I got my house for the price of a nice luxury car, so I pay very little in property taxes. I usually get a check from my mortgage company every year ranging from $400 to $1000 for over paying escrow. The payment on my Genesis is higher than my mortgage ...and I only have 1 year left on the Genesis.
