Apple's HomePod Announced
Apple has announced their new answer to Amazon's Alexia and Google's Home assistant.
The HomePod looks to be a mix of wireless music player and networked version of their voice assistant Siri. Inside, you'll find a 20 mm high-excursion woofer, seven tweeters. There's also an array of six microphones that not only act to listen for Siri requests but also senses the room environment and optimizes the sound for any listening area.
If you add a second HomePod, they will sense each other and act as a stereo pair. Another feature allows you to place HomePods in different rooms and serve the same or different music to each speaker.
HomePod will be available on February 9th for $349.

So instead of Google or Amazon spying on you, it can be Apple. Why anyone would want to have one of these tech companies listening in on your conversations?

David, you are going to have to give in and be one of the cool kids.
The AV and home integration is nice, but I too have my concerns. More and more products are using some sort of voice assist and I'm sure it will become the norm. I just read a story about how Amazon and Panasonic are teaming up for voice assist in your car.
Actually, some Jeep models are using Alexia to start the engine. That would be a nice feature around here when it's in the 20's or colder.

Reviews that I have read say that this is the best-sounding device in this product category. However, I have also read that you are limited to playing music from Apple sources.
