Academy Award-winning director Steven Soderbergh plunges audiences into the suspense and drama of a resilient woman’s fight to reclaim her freedom even as she risks her own sanity. Still scarred from the trauma of being terrorized by a stalker, Sawyer Valentine (Claire Foy) receives treatments at the Highland Creek Behavioral Center. Shortly after she unwittingly commits herself to confinement at the mental institution, she catches sight of a facility staffer who, she is convinced, is actually her stalker. But is he real or just a product of her delusion?

    My Thoughts
This is one creepy film and while the premise is a bit of stretch, once Sawyer ends up in the institution things get pretty damn intense! You continually wonder whether she is going crazy or if the pills the facility are giving her are contributing to her bizarre behavior. The ending is satisfying for the most part, but does leave you wondering what the future holds.

This film is unique in that it was shot completely on an iPhone 7 and the resulting video quality shows the devices shortcomings. Flesh tones are all over the map, the black characters fade too much into the shadows, and the shadow detail itself leaves a lot to be desired. Low light sequences are crushed, but the exterior daylight shots look just fine.

    Video 8/10 (MVC)

    Audio 8/10 (DTS-HD MA 5.1)

    Special Features:

    • Unsanity
    • Blu-ray + Digital Copy

If you like psychological thrillers, this one should be right up your alley. The direction is very tight from Soderbergh and the cinematography is unique in the way it was captured although it doesn’t translate well to 4K (nor 1080p for that matter). If you’re a fan of Foy, definitely give this one a look because she’s outstanding in the role.

That trailer does make it look intense. I don't remember seeing this one advertised.
