The Equalizer (UHD Blu-ray) review
Plot
McCall has put his mysterious past behind him and is dedicated to living a new, quiet life. But when he meets Teri, a young girl under the control of ultra-violent Russian gangsters, he can’t stand idly by. Armed with hidden skills that allow him to serve vengeance against anyone who would brutalize the helpless, McCall comes out of his self-imposed retirement and finds his desire for justice reawakened. If someone has a problem, if the odds are stacked against them, if they have nowhere else to turn, McCall will help. He is The Equalizer.
My Thoughts
I didn’t love this movie the first time I watched it four years ago but seeing it for a second time was a good experience. Maybe I was in the right frame of mind, but the violence didn’t bother me as much this time and I enjoyed Denzel Washington’s performance a lot more. The story reminds me of a cross between Taken—with his certain set of skills—and Man on Fire, but it definitely works and is popular enough to give a sequel hitting theaters soon.
Video 9.5/10 (MVC)

Conclusion
While the story itself isn’t very original, it is enjoyable to watch from an action standpoint and the A/V presentation is excellent, especially on this UHD. If you’re a fan of this genre or Washington, definitely give this one a spin.David Vaughn

Hi David,
I ordered the movie you reviewed. However, I cancelled the order when I realized I was getting an Ultra HD disc, not an UHD Blu-ray edition. Doesn't this make the UHD version a 3K version? It's probably a moot point, if I'm right, I likely couldn't tell the difference.Richard
