    Bond, James Bond

I actually wrote this for another site, but I have had a great deal of trouble posting lately. Tracy has been working of this problem, So I am putting this up mostly to see if it will post. But it may interest you!!!!

As you can see I have enjoyed the James Bond books as well as the movies, which are on the lower left.

I like to refer to the books for most questions and I often hear discussions of who should be the next Bond after Mr. Craig retires from the role.

In Moonwalker, the third Bond book published in 1955, James Bond reveals not just that he is 37 years old, but that double Os must retire at age 45. So, technically, the next Bond should be between 35 and 45. So, by the book is is correct Mr. Craig is winding down his role, he is 50 now.

James Bond definite has an ethic background, not only established in all the books, but primarily discussed in “Obit” in You Only Live Twice. In fact, that “obit” was an essential part of Skyfall.

I am going to take a chance here because it gets rally touchy when we discuss ethnicity, but Bond is a white, British, Christian. As with the Black Panther, Shaft and Blade it would be wonderful to have an African American presence on the screen. But if you read the book “Live and Let Die” you will see it can only unfold if Bond is white. You will also sadly read Ian Fleming’s views on aging Americans who live in Fort Lauderdale, breakfast food in America and his sad view of African-Americans (for who he does not always use a polite term.)

Your posting issue should be resolved. Please let me know if it happens again.

As for Craig retiring and the age of the actor relating to the book, how old were Connery and Moore near the end of their tenure as 007?

For me, Craig is Bond like I think Bale is Batman. I am so locked into those two actors playing those characters, they had better make a really smart choice for Craig's replacement.

Moore, born in 1927, was actually older than Coonery born 1930. Moore retire from Bond in 1985 at age 58.

connery retired several times. First in 1968 at age 38, Second in 1971 at age 41 and again at 1983 at the age of 53.

I seem to remember there were a few forgettable Bonds in the mix between Connery's absences.

I really didn't care for Brosnan or Dalton as Bond. Craig was the one that got me into watching the Bond franchise again. Someone please just pay the man whatever obscene amount of money that will keep Craig as 007.

It isn’tjustthe money, which is a fortune. The Bond movies take 6-7 months, twice as long ad most others. And you are away from home for much of that time. After you have made 200 million dollars the money is not as important.
