    Overlord (UHD Blu-ray) review

    Plot
With only hours until D-Day, a team of American paratroopers drop into Nazi-occupied France to carry out a mission that's crucial to the invasion's success. Tasked with destroying a radio transmitter atop a fortified church, the desperate soldiers join forces with a young John MagFrench villager to penetrate the walls and take down the tower. But, in a mysterious Nazi lab beneath the church, the outnumbered G.I.s come face-to-face with enemies unlike any the world has ever seen.

    My Thoughts
J.J. Abrams produced this film and while I generally avoid anything too gory, the positive press on the movie made me want to give it a look. Needless to say, yes, it’s gory, but the story overcomes the gore and it’s definitely worth checking out. The chemistry between the ensemble cast is outstanding and there were some great one liners delivered by John Magaro, who plays one of the soldiers. I also need to give some props to Jovan Adepo, who does a great job as the protagonist of the story. I bet we’ll see a lot more of him after this film because he sure has what it takes to be a big star.

    Video 9.5/10 (MVC)

    Audio 10/10 (Dolby Atmos)

    Special Features:

    • The Horrors of War
      • Creation
      • Death Above
      • Death on the Ground
      • Death Below
      • Death No More
      • Brothers in Arms

    • Blu-ray + Movies Anywhere Digital Copy

    Conclusion
Even though this is a genre I avoid, I was able to tolerate the violence and gore due to the entertaining story, great chemistry between the actors, and phenomenal presentation on UHD. The audio track is outstanding with its imaging, use of the overhead speakers and low-end punch and is worth a purchase for this alone. Furthermore, this is a movie that can be watched more than once given all these factors. Highly recommended.

David thanks for the reviews, you have had a busy weekend! I am interested, after your reviews, in Aircraft and this one. Of course I am waiting for my new jvc 3000, so I may to suffer and watch these on my LG 65 incher. Sigh! (as with First Man should I wait for the jvc for either one of these? I am also holding off Venom)

Barry, hold off on both...they are really good visually. The sound on this one is awesome, especially if you like bass

Also, I've watched these films over the past 2+ weeks but didn't have a chance to write them up until today. (Although I did was Overlord last night.)
